Car Fire Closes Division Street

A 1956 model Chevrolet was damaged in the 3 p.m. fire. Traffic on Division Street was rerouted for less than 30 minutes.

Division Street between Third and Fourth streets was closed for a short time after 3 p.m. Sunday for a car fire.

Northfield firefighters and police responded when a 1956 model Chevrolet parked in front of caught fire shortly after 3 p.m.

The fire appeared to start in the engine compartment and damaged at least the engine, hood, front windshield, dash and windows. It was extinguished in short order by firefighters using hoses.

The car was towed and Division Street reopened by 3:25 p.m.
