Longest NIght Service at First United Church of Christ

First United Church of Christ, 300 Union St. will conduct its annual Longest Night Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the church’s sanctuary.

This service of quiet music, readings, prayer and candles is a time to seek peace during the holidays.

It is especially helpful for those of us who find the holiday season being a difficult time for a variety of reasons. Maybe it’s grieving for a loved one, or that the winter’s darkness recalls other dark times.

Regardless of the reason, this service is a time to acknowledge the reality of pain in the midst of a season of celebration. We will seek to be honest about our grief, while also seeking to open ourselves to the light and hope that is coming into the world.

The service is open the public. For more information, go to www.firstucc.org or call 645-7532.
