(UPDATED) DEATH NOTICE: Eleanor Gargrave, 82
Eleanor passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the age of 82, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield.
Eleanor Marian Gargrave was born on September 1, 1930, to Matthew and Hilda (Berge) Landsverk at home on the family farm near Fosston, Minnesota. Eleanor and her family were members of the Kingo Lutheran Church in Fosston where she was baptized and confirmed. She attended first grade at the Bergdahl Country School and graduated from Fosston High School in 1948. Eleanor graduated from Augsburg College in 1952 with a degree in business. In 1953, she received a degree in Secondary Education from Bemidji State College. She attended graduate school in business education at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. She taught business education subjects in Bertha, MN and Northfield, MN and was a substitute teacher in the Northfield schools for many years.
On July 15, 1961, Eleanor was united in marriage to Harold (Hal) E. Gargrave at Kingo Lutheran Church. They made their home in Northfield where Hal was employed as an accountant at the G.T. Sheldahl Company.
Eleanor was a long-time member of Bethel Lutheran Church. As an avid sports fan, she enjoyed attending the sports activities of her sons and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, family activities, and especially time with her grandchildren.

Eleanor is survived by her husband Hal and two sons and their families: Steven (Kim) and their children Jason and Troy of Sterling Heights, Michigan; and Darren and his children Regina and Kearic of Northfield. She is also survived by brothers Donald (Janice) and Robert (Janet) Landsverk of Fosston. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1321 North Ave., Northfield, Rev. Tim McDermott officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield. Casket bearers will be Loren Baumbach, David Hauck, Robert Knutson, Julian Trangsrud, Norris Stephenson, Robert Phelps, Larry Petterson, and Don Pavek. Honorary pallbearers are Eleanor’s many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church or the Gloryland Gospel Team.
