Community Corner

Serenaded on a Lovely Evening in Northfield

The Northfield Community Band performs for residents at Bridge Square on Thursday night.

The Northfield Community Band continued a tradition of playing free concerts for the community on Thursday night in Bridge Square.

Young and not-so-young music enthusiasts sat on the grass, on blankets and in lawn chairs as they listened to the band.

Comprised of high school and adult musicians, the band annually performs four free concerts during its summer season. Band members have rehearsed Wednesday nights since late May in the Northfield High School band room to prepare for the performances.

The band is sponsored by the Northfield Public Schools Community Services Division and Carleton College.
