Community Corner

Have you ever wanted to help break a world record?

Northfield Community Services has entered Northfield as a host community for the World's Largest Swim Lesson. Attached is a flyer about the WLSL and more detailed information is below. WLSL - Take part in breaking a record in the Guinness World Record Book! On Tuesday June 18th from 10 - 10:30 am, a simultaneous swimming lesson will take place across the world (16 countries on 5 continents)! Come and be part of this great event and help us to break the world record for the largest number of people participating in a swimming lesson at one time! Fatal drowning remains the second leading cause of unintentional, injury-related death for children ages 1 to 14 years and is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 5. It doesn't have to be this way. Help to spread the word that learning how to swim saves lives! If you'd like to take part in the swimming lesson, please plan on showing up at Old Memorial Pool between 9:30 - 9:45 am on Tuesday June 18th (801 Seventh St. E.) and sign in at the registration table. There is no pre-registration and the event is free. The event is for all ages and abilities. Wear a swimming suit! In case of inclement weather, please call the Community Services weather line at 664-3659 for cancellation information. There is no make-up date for this event.
