Northfield Council Approves New Police Chief

Sgt. Monte Nelson was will be sworn in Jan. 21, according to Northfield News.

Sgt. Monte Nelson will be the city's next police chief after the Northfield City Council gave its approval Tuesday night.

According to Northfield News, City Administrator Tim Madigan suggested Nelson after conducting a search within the Northfield Police Department.

Some members of the public did voice concerns about the selection process, the council's decision to give Nelson the job was unanimous, the newspaper reported. Nelson will be sworn in Jan. 21.
