20 Northfield Runners Finish Twin Cities Marathon

Nearly 9,000 total runners participated in the Sunday event.

Among the 8,849 runners who finished the 26.2-mile 2013 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Sunday, Oct. 6 were 20 from Northfield.

The race began near the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis and finished at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

Fastest Northfield Runners

For the men, Northfield's Ed Muniak, 43, finished the race with a time of 3:11:41. He placed 465th overall, 394th out of 4,919 male runners, and 46th for his male age group.

As for the women, Elizabeth Leer, 45, finished with a time of 3:27:24. She placed 1,016th overall, 206th out of 3,928 female runners, and 11th in her female age group.

Overall Winners

Arizona resident Nick Arciniaga won the 2013 Twin Cities Marathon men’s race with a time of 2:13:11, according to a StarTribune.com report. Former Minnesota resident Annie Bersagel won the woman’s title with a time of 2:30:52.
