St. Olaf Tops Carleton in Men's Basketball Thriller

The Oles (8-8, 7-4 MIAC) were led by Bobby Fong's 17 points and Stu Neville, who had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Alfred Jaryan hit both ends of a 1-and-1 with 2.9 seconds left to help St. Olaf escape with a 67-66 overtime MIAC men's basketball win over host Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at West Gymnasium.

Jaryan was fouled on an inbounds pass after Carleton had taken a one-point lead on a tip in by Caleb Rosenow. Jaryan made both and the Knights' Tom Sawatzke missed a desperation jumper from near half court to give the Oles the win.

Jaryan finished with 15 points. The Oles (8-8, 7-4 MIAC) were led by Bobby Fong's 17 points and Stu Neville, who had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Neville gave St. Olaf, which trailed by as many as six in the extra session, a one-point advantage on a three-pointer in the corner with 33 seconds left.

Carleton was led by Rosenow, who had 19 points and eight rebounds. Scott Thiesen added 16 and Shane McSparron 15 in the loss for the Knights (6-10, 3-8 MIAC).
