Dundas Fashion Bug Closing

The Dundas clothing store shuts down after 20 years.

, a women's clothing retailer that has been a fixture in Dundas' since 1990, is slated to close its doors for the final time at the end of January 2012.

Charming Shoppes Inc., parent company of Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant and Catherine's Plus Size, announced in March that it would close 240 unprofitable stores in 2011. The stores identified for shuttering included more than 120 Fashion Bugs, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

Corporate spokesperson Ilana Bagell told Northfield Patch that the Dundas location was "not meeting operating objectives" and will be holding inventory liquidation sales until its closing date.

She said two full-time and seven part-time employees will lose their jobs when the store closes.

Due to discounted prices, the Dundas store will no longer accept coupons or participate in company promotions.

Bagell said the Cottage Grove Fashion Bug is also closing, but said Fashion Bugs in Apple Valley and Shakopee will remain open.

The hours of the Dundas store have also changed as it readies to shutter. New store hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

"Charming Shoppes would like to thank the Dundas customers for their loyalty through the years and invite them to take advantage of the closing sales," Bagell said.
