Corey grew up in southern Minnesota and got his first newspaper job at the Faribault Daily News when he was still in high school.

He was in the press box when the Twins won Game 6 of the 1991 World Series, on the fringe at the 18th hole as Payne Stewart won the U.S. Open in a playoff, and on the sidelines when Gary Anderson missed that kick against the Falcons in the 1998-99 NFC championship game.

But mostly he has spent his career covering local high school sports, telling the stories of athletes who compete because they love the game and not for a contract extension or big endorsement deal.

These days he lives in Eden Prairie and covers sports all over the Twin Cities area.
