About Betsy

I am a SAHM to two boys, ages 15 and 12.  Our oldest is a freshman in High School, and our youngest is in 6th grade at the Middle School.  My husband and I will celebrate 17 years of marriage this fall.  Oh, and we also have a 7 year old Irish Setter that would be sad if I left him out.

I have a nursing degree, but have spent most of my time at home with the boys.  I was a SAHM for the first 10 years of parenting, and when our youngest started First Grade, I went back to work at a clinic for 4-1/2 years.

This year with the boys starting High School and Middle School, I found myself at home again.  I feel it was important for me to be home when they were younger, but I think that being home now is even more important. The homework and activities are more intense, and the social pressures in incredible.

Our family is very involved in Boy Scouts and 4-H here in town.  In my spare time, I am a voracious reader, love to cook and bake, and enjoy both vegetable and flower gardening.  I recently started learning how to embroider, albeit slowly and painfully.  I have always loved to write (I actually was an English major before switching to Nursing in college), and freelancing with The Patch is a great way for me to reconnect with that.

Hi,

I am working on a feature film that is helping a great cause as well as offering people the opportunity to get involved with the film. I think this would be a great story to write about and tell people. I just wanted to pass this along. …Or If it’s not too much trouble, pledge on something (they are offering great things!) and if you can also please pass this along to your
friends.

If I can help you out with anything or the production can help you with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Here is the link for the film:
