Eric Richard Kleeberger, 25, is accused of stealing money, electronic devices and skateboards, among other items, that totaled more than $2,000.
A Northfield man pleaded guilty in Rice County District Court this week to a string of thefts from vehicles that occurred in March 2012. Eric Richard Kleeberger, 25, is accused of stealing money, electronic devices and skateboards, among other items, that totaled more than $2,000. Ten victims filed reports with police in the March spree, including one couple reporting their vehicle had been stolen. Kleeberger had originally pleaded not guilty in November to the aiding and abetting theft charge and fleeing a peace officer, a misdemeanor. With a jury trial slated for next week, he amended his plea this week. He will be sentenced Feb. 13. The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of not more than five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. …

A Northfield woman made her first appearance in Rice County District Court on Tuesday for allegedly stealing Minnesota State Lottery tickets from the gas station she worked at and cashing them in for more than $2,000. Deanna Rae Rodriquez-Bella, 20, faces state lottery fraud and theft charges, both felonies. If convicted of both charges, she faces up to 15 years in prison and/or a $60,000 fine. According to a criminal complaint filed with Rice County District Court, Rodriquez-Bella started stealing scratch-off tickets in May 2011 from Northfield Amcon, where she worked as a clerk, until she was confronted in November by police with the store's video surveillance. Duane, thanks for the comment. I am aware that Mr. Nordine is the CEO of the Northfield Retirement Community and it's something I weighed before writing this story. Ultimately, though, Mr. Nordine was not mentioned in the criminal complaint, therefore I had no reason to mention him in the story.
