2012 Year in Review

Meet TJ Heinricy, Northfield Patch's 2012 Person of the Year

For his quiet, yet steady contributions to Northfield, Heinricy has been voted the 2012 Northfield Patch Person of the Year.

Editor's note: TJ Heinricy received the most votes of eight nominees to be named Northfield Patch's Person of the Year 2012. There are those who plan. There are those who set out to leave a mark. And then there are those who just do.  TJ Heinricy easily falls into the third group. And for his quiet, yet steady contributions to Northfield, Heinricy has been voted the 2012 Northfield Patch Person of the Year. Heinricy is the City of Northfield's streets and parks supervisor, a Northfield Fire and Rescue captain, and is on the Defeat of Jesse James Days committee. In June, Heinricy received the "Making a Difference" award from the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative for his ongoing support of youth in their efforts to build a permanent …

Meet Zach Pruitt, Northfield Patch's Person of the Year

Pruitt is involved in several organizations devoted to serving local youth.

Editor's note: Zach Pruitt received the most votes of 10 nominees to be named Northfield Patch's Person of the Year 2011. Behind every great accomplishment is someone working tirelessly and, too often, thanklessly, to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. For Northfield, Zach Pruitt is that person. Pruitt, who is the director of the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative and the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Carleton College, was voted Northfield Patch’s Person of the Year during a five-day poll on Patch. In doing so, he received 50 percent of the votes—1,500 of 2,974. “He does not look for recognition,” said Susan Sanderson, who also works in youth development and met Pruitt 15 years ago, when he was a sophomore at…

Zach Pruitt is Northfield Patch’s Person of the Year. After five days of voting, Pruitt received 1,500 votes, good for more than half the votes tallied in a poll on Patch. In all, there were 2,974 votes. Pruitt was one of 10 names submitted when Patch asked readers to nominate people they thought were worthy of the honor, which were to based on their contributions to the community in the past year. On the line was a story about the chosen person’s giving spirit. As the top vote getter, Pruitt isn’t receiving an award, gift certificate or anything to that nature—just a little recognition. Pruitt is executive director of the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative, which works “to foster a collaborative environment in Northfield that …

"As the top vote getter, Pruitt isn’t receiving an award, gift certificate or anything to that nature—just a little recognition." How appropriate! Zach is not one to look for credit for the good things he does quietly and imaginatively in our community. He would never iseek it, but he deserves recognition. He could be a role model for Carles and Oles - doing well in college and choosing to apply …   more ›
