Last week, Jamie Bastian with Target's communications department told Patch that the Northfield Target was one of several hundred slated for an expanded fresh food section. She couldn't confirm a Starbucks addition at that time and on Monday did not return an email asking about the rumored addition. Starbucks joins a large slate of coffee shops in Northfield, including Bittersweet Café, Caribou Coffee, Goodbye Blue Monday Coffee House, Hideaway …

Maybe it’s the flavor in the cup, the service, the atmosphere, or the comfortable chair with a great view out the window that helps to make your choice stand out above the rest. Whatever your reason, vote in our poll and tell us in the comments what makes your favorite place special. We’ll use your input to help determine Northfield Patch’s “Best Of” coffee shop. As a young man (about 10 years old), I was walking through the forest and stumbled upon an ancient riverbed. I followed the riverbed for a while until I heard a strange noise. The noise became louder and louder as whatever was making the noise approached me at an incredible rate. Days before, I had seen the move Jurassic Park and feared that a T Rex was chasing me! Now I was running for my life! …   more ›

VIDEO: Northfield Historical Society's Winter Scream

It may not be that cold, but folks are ready to kiss winter goodbye.

The wrath of winter may not be what it was a year ago, but folks still descended on Bridge Square on Saturday to participate in Northfield Historical Society'ssecond annual Winter Scream. The fundraiser offered ice cream, donated by Hogan Brothers Acoustic Café, and chili, donated by J. Grundy's Rueb 'N' Stein, for a $5 donation. Highlighting the event was the communal singing of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It," but with a wintry twist of seasonally appropriate lyrics. In an attempt to bid winter farewell, these lyrics were sung: We’ve got no friends in Phoenix We’ve blown through all our Kleenex We’re not going to take it, any more. We’ve braved the snow and ice We’ve shivered more than twice We’re not going to take it, anymore…
