The Raiders girls hockey team on Saturday showed plenty of skill by defeating Faribault 6-0 at the Northfield Ice Arena. Andrew Scofield and Colton Woodruff tallied goals for the Raiders.
The Northfield Raiders boys hockey team on Thursday tied Farmington at the midpoint of the third period, but were unable to complete the comeback for the win. Hosting the Tigers at the Northfield Ice Arena, the Raiders had to settle for its first tie of the season, putting their record at 8-5-1. Colton Woodruff tied the game 32 seconds after the Tigers took a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Taylor Freiermuth assisted. Raiders leading scorer Andrew Scofield knotted the game at 2-2 on a power play goal with about eight minutes left in the game. Woodruff and Cody Colegrove assisted. Goalie Isaak Tjaden made 33 saves. The Raiders next play 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Academy of Holy Angels.

The Raiders lost Thursday night 4-0 at New Prague.
After scorching Austin on Tuesday with a 9-0 win, the Northfield boys hockey team on Thursday couldn't score against New Prague in Section 1A play. In the quarterfinal match, New Prague scored four times—one on an empty-net goal. The Trojans scored once in the first period, twice in the second period and got the late empty-netter to clinch the game. New Prague won both regular season match-ups, as well. The loss ends the season for the Raiders, which went 9-15 in the regular season. Sophomore Andrew Scofield led the team with 34 points, 22 of which were goals. Defenseman Jared Docken led the team with 15 assists.

The Raiders walloped Austin 9-0 on Tuesday.
Call it a warm-up. Midway through the scoreless first period of Tuesday's Section 1A game, the Northfield boys hockey team stopped messing around and scored four goals—three in a span of 1 minute and 2 seconds. After three periods, the Raiders scored nine times, a nice momentum builder heading into Thursday's tournament game against New Prague. Forward Michael Vogel, who scored the first two goals of the game and added an assist later, said the team is ready to beat New Prague after losing twice to the team in the regular season 2-5 and 0-3. Northfield Patch recaps the happenings of the past week.
Monday was a busy day for Northfield Patch. The week kicked off with the fourth video in a series highlighting the behind-the-scenes work for Rock 'n' Roll Revival, a popular show at the Northfield High School. The Moms Council debuted with a discussion about cyber-bullying and Patch reported on two Faribault teenagers who allegedly burglarized Northfield Eye & Optical. The evening capped off with coverage of the Northfield School Board and the district's projections of needing to cut $700,000 from its budget for the next school year. On Tuesday, the Northfield girls hockey team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Hwy. 3 rival Faribault. Our family LOVES winter!
