Charges: Marijuana Operation Found on Division Street

The Rice County Drug Task Force last week executed a search warrant of a home on the 800 block of Division St.

The Rice County Drug Task Force last week arrested two people in Northfield operating a "long-term larger scale marijuana dealing endeavor," according to charging documents filed in Rice County District Court. Kenneth Michael Carlson and Anna Christine Drivdahl, both 25, face multiple charges connected with the operation. Carlson faces three fifth-degree drug charges, child endangerment, and receiving stolen property, all felonies. The drug charges include possession and and selling marijuana, as well as possession of Acetaminophen and Oxycodone.  The maximum penalty for all charges is up to 21 years in prison and/or $43,000 in fines. Drivdahl faces two fifth-degree drug charges and child endangerment, all felonies. Those charges carry a …

Man Charged with Cocaine Possession in Northfield

Police say Michael Antonio Burciaga had cocaine in his wallet when he was arrested in Northfield, even though he told officers he thought it was heroin.

A Minneapolis man has been charged with possession of cocaine in Northfield. Michael Antonio Burciaga, 22, is charged in Rice County with fifth-degree drug possession, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of illegally possessing hypodermic needles, for which the maximum penalty is 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. A Northfield resident called police just after 11 p.m. Dec. 12 to report suspicious activity at Clifford's Car Wash on Woodley Street East, according to the criminal complaint. The caller said a car was parked in one of the car-wash bays, with several people outside it and loud banging noises coming from the area. Two people were carrying items back and …

Northfield Woman Charged with Heroin Possession, Child Neglect

Police say they found heroin and Valium when they searched Danielle Elizabeth Bergson's home this week, and that her 13-month-old child was within reach of it.

A Northfield woman has been arrested and charged with drug possession and child neglect after police say they found heroin, Valium and drug paraphernalia in her home, all of which were accessible by her 13-month-old child. Danielle Elizabeth Bergson, 23, is charged with two felony counts of fifth-degree drug possession, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, and child neglect, a gross misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $3,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint filed in Rice County District Court, Northfield Police investigated a home burglary on Sept. 19 in which someone stole jewelry. Police Arrest Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Injecting Heroin

Police say a Northfield man found John Stephen Bense unconscious in his kitchen after Bense—who was undergoing addiction treatment—apparently injected heroin.

An Eagle Lake man is facing felony drug charges after police say a friend in Northfield found him passed out on his kitchen floor and feared that he had overdosed on heroin. John Stephen Bense, 42, is charged with two counts of fifth-degree drug possession, each of which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint filed in Rice County District Court, a Northfield man who lives in the 200 block of Greenvale Avenue called police just before 8 a.m. Oct. 21 and reported that Bense, who was staying in his apartment overnight, might have overdosed on heroin. The man told police that he found Bense—who is in treatment for heroin use—lumped over on the kitchen table, with syringes and a …

Northfield Man Facing Gun, Drug Charges

A Northfield man was charged this week with possessing a pistol without a permit, possessing Percocet and Xanax without a prescription, and driving while impaired. Dylan Vaughn Purdy, 19, was stopped in August 2011 in Burnsville after a report of a possible drunk driver. An employee of a gas station told police that Purdy was stumbling and falling down as he put gas in his vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court. When approached by police, Purdy admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that night, the complaint says. Upon searching Purdy's vehicle, police found a handgun on the inside of the driver's side door and a magazine with 11 bullets, according to the complaint. Purdy didn't have a permit for …
