Dear neighbors, As your voice at our State Capitol, I depend on your input and ideas to make well-informed decisions about the big challenges facing our state. That’s why I’m excited to invite you to connect with me at upcoming town hall meetings this weekend. I’ll be joined by State Senator Kevin Dahle for two meetings this Saturday, February 23. The first meeting will take place from 9:00-10:00am at the Lonsdale Public Library, located at 1006 NE Birch Street. The second meeting will take place from 10:30-11:30am at the Montgomery Public Library, located at 104 Oak Avenue SE. In this week's video, Superintendent Chris Richardson talks about the Minnesota Legislature starting its new session and how it could affect Northfield schools. With the DFL in control of the Legislature, Richardson said Minnesota could see changes in how school funding is approached and how property taxes are handled, both moves he believes could benefit schools and taxpayers. Representing Northfield in the Minnesota House are David Bly (D-District 20B) and Pat Garofalo (R-District 58B); in the Minnesota Senate, Kevin Dahle (D-District 20) and Dave Thompson (R-District 58) represent Northfield. Legislative Clerk David Surdez places the names of the 2013-2014 House members on the voting board in the House Chamber. The legislative session is scheduled to begin Jan. 8.
Legislative Clerk David Surdez places the names of the 2013-2014 House members on the voting board in the House Chamber. The 134 name plates have to be adjusted by hand at least every two years. The legislative session is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Jan. 8. After redistricting, and the 2012 general election, the Northfield area will be represented by David Bly (DFL-District 20B) and Pat Garofalo (R-District 58B) in the Minnesota House of Representatives and Kevin Dahle (DFL-District 20) and Dave Thompson (R-District 58) in the Senate.
