Man Flees Officers Through Northfield

First in truck, later in snowmobile, man allegedly takes law enforcement on 10.5-mile chase.

His joyride had to end at some point. Last week, Jason William Filan, 29 of Kilkenny, fled local law enforcement for 10.5 miles in a stolen truck, and later snowmobile, before finally being apprehended south of town, according to a criminal complaint filed in Rice County District Court. Filan now faces charges for fleeing an officer, stealing and receiving stolen property. Pursuit started just south of the Northfield border at 9:47 p.m. Thursday as Dundas Police allegedly saw Filan, in the truck, with a snowmobile in the back of it, leaving a closed Hwy.3  business. Despite a lengthy criminal history and multiple prison stays,making this the 4th time,(and other similar charges in neighboring county) Filan was sentenced to 30 months in prison for fleeing police and 30 months for 3rd degree burglary(and 1 yr in Lesueur co). Warrant Issued for Northfield Man Accused of Having Sex With Minor

Marco Antonio Colin, 19, failed to appear for sentencing Wednesday in Rice County courtroom.

A warrant has been issued for a Northfield man accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.  Marco Antonio Colin, 19, failed to appear in Rice County District Court on Wednesday. He was to be sentenced for third-degree sexual conduct and third-degree sale of marijuana, both of which he pleaded guilty to in August. Colin faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, a $30,000 fine or both for the third-degree sexual assault. The third-degree sale of drugs carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence, a $250,000 fine or both. With the plea agreement, three other charges were dropped, including soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, prostitution of a 13- to 15-year-old, and fifth-degree sale of marijuana.
