To the relief of most parents, Rice County schools are back in session! The Rice County Attorney’s Office, all of Rice County’s Chiefs of Police, and the Rice County Sheriff want everyone to make it to school safely. Here are some back-to-school safety reminders – for students, parents, motorists, and pedestrians. Have a family discussion on safely loading, riding, and exiting the school bus, and how to safely walk to school – consider this your “back-to-school homework.” Parents, talk to your teen drivers about a motorist’s responsibility to pay attention to school bus traffic – it will be a good reminder for them, and for you. Kids throughout the Northfield area today flashed their pearly whites for moms, dads and friends as the personalized photoshoots marked the first day of the 2012-13 school year.
Say cheese! Kids throughout the Northfield area today flashed their pearly whites for moms, dads and friends as the personalized photoshoots marked the first day of the 2012-13 school year. Facebook and Twitter feeds were filling up Tuesday morning with the images that will likely last a lifetime. Northfield Patch wants to share the all-too-cute photos with our community. Kate Byrne knows she's not doing her back any favors. In her backpack, Byrne, a Carleton College student, carries "books, lots and lots of books," she said. "I'm a humanities major." Bryne isn't alone. As students of all ages are now once again walking the halls of their respective schools, backpacks are overloaded, tugging at the straps.
