DFLer David Bly beat Republican Brian Wermerskirchen 57 percent to 43 percent in the House District 20B race. DFLer Kevin Dahle narrowly defeated Republican Mike Dudley.

Bly, who lost a re-election bid to the Minnesota House in 2010 by 37 votes, beat Republican Brian Wermerskirchen 57 percent to 43 percent on Tuesday in the House District 20B race. Dahle's race was much closer, besting Republican Mike Dudley by 82 votes, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State's preliminary results, which were updated at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday. Around 1 a.m., MPR and WCCO reported that Dahle had won by 332 votes (20,361 to 20,029). Election season is nearly done and Northfield's legislative candidates have released their finance reports that were due last week to the state's Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board. Some candidates have raised tens of thousands of dollars during the election cycle. With Election Day only hours away, some candidates still have sizable amounts of cash on hand. Here's a look at the totals through Oct. 29 for candidates for Senate District 20 and 58 and House District 20B and 58B. Special notes: Public subsidy from state: $6,102.84 received on Aug. 28. Second Congressional District Democratic candidate Mike Obermueller is challenging Republican Rep. John Kline this year.
Mike Obermueller, who is challenging Rep. John Kline (R) to represent the Second Congressional District this year, nabbed a political endorsement from Minnesota's largest labor federation on Thursday. The Minnesota AFL-CIO announced Thursday that it is endorsing Obermueller, a Democrat and former state representative from Eagan. Obermueller was just one of Democratic candidates to be named in the AFL-CIO's first round of endorsements. Additional endorsements will be announced in the coming weeks as the endorsement process continues. Editor's note: Brian Ims has withdrawn from the mayoral race. Tuesday, the final day of a two-week filing period for municipal, county and state political races, turned out to be a whopper. Several folks waited until the final hours to make their candidacies official. Here's a breakdown of races that affect Northfield. Not included is the Northfield School Board, for which the filing period is July 31-Aug. 14.
