UPDATE: 'Mr. Northfield' Dan Freeman Dies at Age 72

Involved in many aspects of the life of Northfield for many years, Freeman had battled health issues for some time. He passed away Monday night at the Northfield Retirement Center.

Northfield legend Dan Freeman, 72, has died. Freeman—well known for his involvement in many aspects of life in Northfield—passed away Monday night at the Northfield Retirement Center, according to a death notice released by the Benson and Langehough Funeral Home. Freeman had battled health issues for some time. But, according to a post written by his daughter Suzanne on his Facebook page April 26, his health unexpectedly took a turn for the worse in recent weeks. Very simply, his lungs are too scarred and damaged from his bouts with pneumonia, and there's just nothing they can do for him. He's continuing to get weaker and weaker. Slain Rice Co. Native Remembered for Infectious Smile, Military Service

Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday morning for Margorie Ann Holland, nee Brown, who died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday evening in Faribault.

Rice County is mourning the loss of Margorie Ann Holland, a 37-year-old woman who was slain last Thursday. She was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Faribault. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. the day prior, Wednesday, at Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault.  Holland, nee Brown, lived in Apple Valley with her husband. She was a longtime resident of Faribault and a member of the Army National Guard. Her family has a long history of service in the military. Her father, Ron Brown, has frequently been featured in Veterans Day tributes by local news media in Rice County. According to a recent article in the Faribault Daily News, Holland had …
