Family Night at the Y
When: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.
Where: Northfield Area YMCA, 519 Division St. S. in Northfield.
Details: Play together as a family at the YMCA. The event is free for members and $10 for nonmembers. You can register online at northfieldymca.org, complete a registration form and mail to 519 Division Street, Northfield MN 55057 or stop by/call the office 507-645-0088 or Wellness Center 507-664-7349.
Friday Night Lights: St. Olaf Dance Department
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24.
Where: Dittmann Center, Wagner/Bundgaard Studio One, 1520 St. Olaf Ave.
Details: The St. Olaf Dance Department presents "Friday Night Lights." The show will begin with a short dance performance followed by a student moderator posing a question to engage the dancers, choreographer, and audience in a conversation.
Tim Penny to Speak on Entrepreneurship
When: 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.
Where: St. Olaf College's Buntrock Commons, 1520 St. Olaf Ave. in Northfield.
Details: Tim Penny, president and CEO of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation will speak on "Local Entrepreneurship: You Made It Happen!" at the annual meeting of Women in Northfield Giving Support (WINGS). The event is open to the public.
Cannon Valley Youth Orchestra Auditions
When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.
Where: Emmaus Baptist Church, 712 Linden St. N. in Northfield.
Details: CVYO consists of three youth orchestras serving advanced beginner through advanced high school string players. Talented youth from the local area participate in 10 weekly rehearsals, culminating with a concert April 11. To schedule an audition, go to cvyomn.org.
WinterFest
When: noon Sunday, Jan. 26.
Where: River Bend Nature Center, 1000 Rustad Rd. in Faribault.
Details: River Bend Nature Center celebrates the winter season with WinterFest! The event features outdoor winter fun with sledding (bring your own sled), horse-drawn sleigh rides, our blizzard mini golf course, games, a snowshoe hike, live animals in Trailside Center, marshmallow roasting at the Kay Janky Amphitheater, and much more.
