Women in Nature, History and Family Movie Night: Northfield Weekend Planner

Get out of the house this weekend without traveling too far. See what fun events are happening in and near Northfield below:

Women in Nature: Snowshoeing & Leave No Trace Workshop


When: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

Where: River Bend Nature Center, 1000 Rustad Rd. in Faribault.

Details: An all new Women in Nature (WIN) series, a monthly outdoor skills and natural history-based program specifically for women. Open to adult women. Cost is $10 for non-members; $8 for members.

Assemblance of a Whole: Gallery Opening Reception


When: 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10.

Where: Flahten Art Museum at St. Olaf College, 1500 St. Olaf Ave. in Northfield.

Details: View new work by St. Olaf art apprentices Anna Carlson, Gina Gaetz, Addie Rosenwinkel, Kara Sajeske, and Noah Sanders. The show opens Jan. 10 and runs until Feb. 16.

History Day Hullaballoo


When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.

Where: Northfield Public Library, 210 Washington St. in Northfield.

Details: For sixth-graders who want to get a jump start on their History Day projects. Mentors will meet with students individually to discuss project topics, research sources and more.

Winter Family Movie Night


When: 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.

Where: River Bend Nature Center, 1000 Rustad Rd. in Faribault.

Details: River Bend Nature Center is kicking off its 2014 Winter Family Movie Series. On the second Saturday in January, February and March River Bend Nature Center will show a family oriented movie that revolves around themes that River Bend is truly invested in. The cost is free, however, a donation is suggested. Popcorn will be sold for 25 cents.
