Looking for something to do this winter weekend in or near Northfield? Northfield Patch has a few suggestions below:

Kids Night at the Y


When: 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

Where: National Guard Armory, 519 Division St. in Northfield.

Details: Kids get their own special night away from parents and parents get a night out without kids. Cost for members is $10 each for the first 2 children, $5 per additional child. Cost for non-members is $15 each for the first 2 children, $10 per additional child.

Lucia Fest


When: 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

Where:
St. John's Lutheran Church, 500 Third St. W. in Northfield.

Details: Area residents of Swedish descent, or those interested in Swedish customs, are invited to attend the 38th annual Lucia Fest, which is sponsored by the Northfield Swedish Club. It includes a potluck supper, a Lucia processional and pageant, live fiddle music, the singing of Swedish carols, and folk dancing. Everyone is invited to attend. Bring your own tableware, two dishes to pass, and one dozen cookies. For more information, call Wendy Smith at 507-664-9304.

Northfield Jingle Bell Run/Walk - 5K Run and 2K Run/Walk


When: 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

Where: National Guard Armory, 519 Division St. in Northfield.

Details: The preregistration cost is $8 for youth 10 years and under, $15 for 11 years and older with a $50 family maximum cost. Same-day registration costs are $10 for youth 10 years and under, $20 for 11 years and older, and $50 for a family. Register at jinglebellrunwalk.org/registration.

5th Annual Breakfast with Santa Preschool Scholarship Benefit


When: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

Where:
Bethel Lutheran Church, 1321 North Ave. in Northfield.

Details: Join in the holiday fun at the 5th Annual Breakfast with Santa 
on Saturday, December 14th, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Northfield. Kids can visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Hermey (Rudolph’s best friend), make holiday ornaments and crafts, play reindeer games, decorate holiday cookies, write and mail letters to Santa and our troops overseas, get their face painted and listen to wonderful holiday music performed by local children. Reservations are available for seating at 8:30, 10:00 or 11:30 a.m.  Reservations are $8 for adults, $4 for kids (ages 4-12), and children 3 and under can attend for free.
