Week Ahead: 2014 Northfield Sidewalk Poetry Competition

And other things to know this week.

The 2014 Northfield Sidewalk Poetry Competition begins at 10 a.m. on Feb. 1 at the Just Food Co-Op's meeting room. This will be the fourth sidewalk poetry competition. 

The kickoff event will host the first public screening of 
Paul Krause's new documentary "Northfield's Sidewalk Poetry." The public is invited to attend and to bring a favorite poem to share.

Here are some other things to know this week:

  • Immigration 101 will take place on Monday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. at Carleton College Weitz Center for Creativity. The event is free and open to the public. A panel discussion will center on Minnesota's new immigration laws and what they mean for Northfield students, families and employers. For more details, click here.
  • Northfield Hiliners Kid's Dance Clinic will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Northfield High School. The clinic is open to girls in preschool through sixth grade. The cost is $35. For more details, click here.
