Honor Veterans Monday During Annual Assembly at Bridgewater Elementary

Monday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. And you can celebrate the day a couple ways in Northfield.

Check out the Northfield Area Veterans Memorial at Riverside Lions Park any day this week, or head over to Bridgewater Elementary School for an assembly Monday morning:

When: 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11.

Where: Bridgewater Elementary School, 401 Jefferson Pkwy. 

Details: The annual events allows Northfielders to show there appreciation for veterans' service. As part of the program, there will be a slide show of current and past veterans, as well as time dedicated to students sharing patriotic songs and reciting poetry, according to Northfield News.

Northfield City Hall is closed on Monday in observation of Veterans Day.

The Northfield Senior Center is hosting a discussion on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in honor of the 50 year anniversary later this month. The cost is $6.Register in person at the center or online at northfieldseniorcenter.org.

Dr. Devon Carbado is giving a public lecture at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at St. Olaf College. The lecture is based on the book he co-wrote, Acting White? Rethinking Race in ‘Post-Racial’ America.”
