Hvistendahls to be Honored at Northfield Historical Society Annual Meeting

Social hour starts at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Great Hall at Carleton College. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The Northfield Historical Society holds its 37th annual meeting on Saturday at the Great Hall on the campus of .

The meeting is open to all members of the Northfield Historical Society and attendees need only sign up for membership on the evening of the event if they are not currently a member. 

“We are hoping to have our best turnout ever as we have just launched our 1,000-member Campaign,” said the Society’s executive director, Hayes Scriven.

The will also honor the Hvistendahl family at the event. 

“Additional information will be forthcoming, but we are delighted to be honoring Marion, David and Susan Hvistendahl at our annual meeting,” Scriven said. “They have been longtime supporters of the historical society and they have really made it a family affair. I can’t think of a more deserving trio to be honored.”

Two members of Northfield High School Orchestra will also provide music during the social hour of the event and then offer a performance piece at the end of the evening. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a social hour and the meeting begins at 7 p.m. 

People wishing to join the Northfield Historical Society prior to the annual meeting may join in person, online or through U.S. Mail. There are a variety of membership levels available, starting at just $30 a year. People interested in becoming a member can visit northfieldhistory.org or mail or deliver a check to: The Northfield Historical Society, 408 Division Street, Northfield, MN 55057.

“We’re asking people to help us make history,” Scriven said. “We’re asking people to join us today."
