DJJD: James Gang Mounted Shooting and Wild West Show Back in 2012

The James Gang Mounted Shooting and Wild West Show returns Thursday at the Jesse James Arena where several James Gang re-enactment members will ride their horses and shoot blanks from their pistols at balloons for the crowd.

Bang, pop, bang, pop—at least that's how it went most of the time.

The inaugural  took place last year at the  where several  members took to their horses and shot blanks from their pistols at balloons for the crowd.

The event is back this year and is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Jesse James Arena. The event is free for those with a button event. Buttons can be purchased at several businesses around town for $4. Children 12 and younger are $2.

Last year, each participant was dressed in the appropriate garb and played a part of a famous gunslinger, including Billy The Kid, Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, General George A. Custer, Buffalo Bill and Wild Bill Hickok. As each shooter was introduced, the audience learned the history behind the men. 

There were also rodeo clowns and "redneck" games.

With one successful year behind them, Lynn Ziegler, a DJJD committee member in charge of the event, said they learned how to make the show go along faster and make it an all-around better experience.

This year also brings more riders, including women, she said.
