Soccer Playoffs Start Thursday for Northfield

The road to the state tournament runs through Lakeville for both the Northfield girls and teams in Section 1AA. Lakeville North is the No. 1 seed for both tournaments, and both Lakeville South teams are seeded second.

Both Northfield teams will host Farmington in first-round action Thursday.

The Missota Conference champion Raider girls are seeded third and will host the sixth-seeded Tigers at 5 p.m. Tuesday. At that same time, the fourth-seeded Northfield boys will host fifth-seeded Farmington. Both games are at .

The Northfield girls went 6-1-0 in Missota play, good for 18 points and a one-point edge over Shakopee (5-0-2) in the final league standings, despite their 1-0 loss to the Sabers last week. Farmington (3-3-1 Missota) finished fifth in the final conference standings. The Raiders beat the Tigers 3-1 on Sept. 5 in Farmington.

The Northfield boys (5-2-0, 15 points) were Missota Conference runners-up behind Holy Angels (7-0-0, 21 points) this season. Farmington (4-2-1, 13 points) tied Shakopee for third place. In their head-to-head meeting, the Tigers topped the Raiders 1-0 in Farmington on Sept. 8.
