UPDATE: Northfield Football Player Taken to Hospital From Game

Kohl DeGroot, a senior on the Northfield Raiders football team, was transferred to Northfield Hospital during Friday's homecoming game at Memorial Field after being thrown to the ground.

Kohl DeGroot, a senior on the football team, was transferred to during Friday's homecoming game at after being thrown to the ground, hitting his head.

After the game, a team official thought DeGroot may have possibly fractured his jaw. Raiders Coach Bubba Sullivan told the Northfield News late Friday that DeGroot had been cleared of any injuries by doctors.

DeGroot, running with the ball in the fourth quarter, was tackled by a Chanhassen Storm player and thrown to the ground.

Officials immediately stopped the game when DeGroot didn't get up. He lay motionless for several minutes.

Northfield Ambulance EMTs, not knowing the severity of the injury, took their time removing DeGroot's helmet. They unscrewed DeGroot's helmet and lower his head to ground, finally taking the helmet off.

A neck brace was then placed on DeGroot and he was placed on a stretcher and brought to the ambulance, which was stationed outside the field.

The game was stopped for about 15 minutes.

The Raiders lost their homecoming game 28-7.
