The Raiders next play 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Memorial Field for its homecoming game. They host the Red Wing Wingers.

The Northfield Raiders let a lead slip away Friday night in Shakopee (2-3) and failed to secure their first win of the season, falling to the Sabers 32-29.

After Shakopee kicked a field goal with seconds left in the game for the go-ahead score, the Raiders (0-5) tried a little razzle-dazzle on the kick return but fumbled the ball, which Shakopee recovered and marked the end of the game.

Northfield led 22-14 at the half after opening up a 15-0 in the first quarter. Shakopee scored in the third quarter and successfully completed a two-point conversation, as the Raiders did following their first touchdown, to knot the game at 22-22. The Raiders went ahead with a touchdown later in the quarter, but the Sabers put up 10 points in the fourth quarter to take the win.
