RECAP: Northfield Hockey Loses 4-1 to Rochester Lourdes; Season Ends

Raiders goaltender Isaak Tjaden was peppered with shots all game Wednesday night. Lourdes had 48 shots to Northfield's 13.

The boys hockey team’s run to the state tournament ended Wednesday night in Rochester.

The Raiders (15-11-1) were beat by No. 1-seeded Rochester Lourdes 4-1 in the Section 1A championship at the Rochester Rec Center.

Sophomore Nathan Scofield was the lone scorer for the No. 3-seeded Raiders in the loss.

Lourdes (20-8) broke open the 1-1 tie in the second period on the strength of three straight goals from Alex Funk for the natural hat trick.

Raiders goaltender Isaak Tjaden was peppered with shots all night. Lourdes had 48 shots to Northfield’s 13. The Raiders had two shots in the third period.

Had Northfield won, it would have the team's first appearance in the coveted state tournament. Lourdes, ranked eighth in Class 1A, will now make their eighth appearance in the state tournament and their fourth in a row.

Northfield made it to the section finals after beating on Saturday and  3-2 last week. The Raiders had a first-round bye.
