GALLERY: Northfield Girls Track Wins Missota Conference Title

The Northfield girls track and field team won the Missota Conference championship at Thursday’s meet in Farmington.

The Raiders won the meet with a team score of 161. New Prague came in second with 149.50 points.

Junior Elle Dykema won the 100 meter dash with a 12.76 finals time. The 4x800 meter relay took first place at 9:42.15.

Junior Meghan Howell took first place in the girls pole vault at 10 feet, 9 inches, and Erin Melzer and Isabelle Chapman took second and third, respectively in the discus throw. Melzer’s toss went 110 feet, 3 inches, while Chapman’s went 106 feet, 8 inches.

Freshman Kaia Nierman took third in the girls 1600 meter run, and senior Carolyn Pokorney finished fourth in the 800 meter run. Teammates Abby Stets and Dykema finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 meter run.

The Raiders took second in the 4x400 meter relay, and Madison Van Wylen took second in the girls high jump at 5 feet, 0 inches. 

Raiders’ boys squad takes fourth

The Northfield boys track and field team took fourth place overall at the Missota Conference championships on Thursday in Farmington. The Raiders finished with 104 points on the day, while Shakopee rolled to the conference title with 182.50 points.

Senior Otto Pfefferle finished second in the boys high jump with a best jump of 6 feet, 1 inch.

Junior Sam Fox took fourth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:18.03, while the 4x800 meter relay finished third at 8:48.80.

Senior Tyler Larson finished fourth in the 1600 meter run at 4:28.59, and Valid Keita finished fourth in the 400 meter run at 51.41.

Larson took third in the 800 meter run at 1:59.88, and Walid finished third in the 200 meter dash at 23.27.

Kyle Blom took second in the triple jump at 40 feet, 10 inches and finished fifth in the long jump at 19 feet, 7 inches.

Cooper Schultz finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 139 feet, 0 inches and also took third in the shot put at 51 feet, 10.5 inches.
