Football Friday: Northfield at Farmington

Raiders look to rebound from loss last Friday night.

The Raiders were in the wrong place at the wrong time last Friday night as Chanhassen finally got a win after a string of four straight tough losses.

LAST WEEK

Northfield (2-3, 1-3 Missota Conference) lost to Chanhassen 28-7; Farmington (1-3, 1-4 Missota Conference) fell to Holy Angels 35-7.

Despite having a losing record, the Raiders are still in good position to host at least one playoff game. It will likely come down to Northfield or Faribault for the No. 2 seed and the right to host Austin—currently ranked 45th out of 51 teams in Class AAAA—in the first round.

-Farmington (Section 1, Class AAAAA)

The Tigers are currently the No. 7 seed in the seven-team section, and it's shaping up like they will be traveling to Lakeville—either North or South—in their playoff opener.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

-Devon Walker (Northfield, running back)

The Raiders struggled to move the ball against the Storm, but Walker was their top option on the ground, rushing for 42 yards.

-Thomas Wise (Northfield, receiver)

Wise scored the Raiders' lone touchdown last Friday, when he caught a team-high four passes for 43 yards.

RAIDERS WIN IF …

They can get their running game going again. The team's top three backs were held to 97 yards between them last Friday night, and it's hard to win that way. It might take a big play or two to provide a spark for the Raiders.

TIGERS WIN IF …

They can match their intensity from last week. Farmington was tied with league co-leader Holy Angels at halftime—thanks to good defense and special teams—and if they put together four quarters with similar focus on Friday, they should be able to improve to 3-0 at home on the season.
