2013 Fine Craft Collective to Open Thursday

The Fine Craft Collective started as part of a seasonal craft fair in Northfield, according to its website.

The annual Fine Craft Collective showcase will open for another season on Thursday, Nov. 14 in at the former Hoffman's at 506 Division St. in Northfield.

According to Fine Craft Collective's website, it all started as part of a seasonal craft fair in Northfield, and has grown into an alternative co-operative business model for regional artisans:

"Not only does this show offer artisans an opportunity to show in a professional gallery space, it also allows for members of the community to meet them, learn about their work, and support the local economy. More than just the personal touch of an object made by hand, this co-operative gallery gives a personal connection between artisans and shoppers. A member of the show is there every day so that they can dialogue about the work – gain ideas and offer insight.  Shoppers can see a variety of goods for special gifts and everyday life, and know that their purchase will directly support their community. The more research that is done about buying local, the more we can all see how local purchases, especially of goods that are also locally produced, help keep our towns and neighborhoods thriving."

This year's show will run from Nov. 14 through Dec. 24. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
