Your Voice Does Count

Our legislators don't always listen. There is pressure from all sides. This is your chance to provide the pressure for Minnesota wolves. Don't delay.

Dear Readers -
I received the following update from Howling for Wolves.     Please take a few minutes and voice your support for the AMENDMENT to Senate File 1943.   This would reinstate the original five-year delay for wolf hunting and trapping.

Thank you

Shirley

Thank you for taking action by signing our letter to Governor Dayton. Progress has been made this legislative efforts; a State Senator will propose an amendment to the Senate Game and Fish bill to reinstate the original MN Wolf Management Plan of 2000 to delay wolf hunting and trapping by five years.
There now is a chance to delay the hunting and trapping of wolves without forcing the Governor to veto the entire Omnibus Game and Fishing bill.
Encourage everyone to personally ask their State Senators to vote for the Amendment to Senate File 1943 to reinstate the original five-year delay for wolf hunting and trapping. If the amendment passes it will be voted on again by both the MN house and the senate, and our representatives need to know that we want the original five year delay to be reinstated. Personalized phone calls and emails from constituents are the most effective method for getting your voice heard (click here to find your state senator and reps).

The MN State Senate may vote as soon as April 16, so we need to act quickly. Again, sending a personalized contact is the most effective method for pushing through this amendment.
Here are some talking points that to use when calling or email your senator. The five-year delay is important because:
We have never had an endangered Species removed from the list and hunted immediately.
MN wolves control their own numbers. Last counted in 2007, we had the same number as in 1998 and they lived in roughly the same territories.
MN farmers need assistance with problem wolves and a hunt does not do this and could make this now small problem much worse.
We have spent millions of federal and state dollars over 40 years to bring wolves back from the brink of extinction and we are going to kill them for pelts according to Representative Hackbarth's comments on the house floor.
Thank you for taking action,
Howling for Wolves
