The Alice Project: A Wildly Visual Spectacle

The Alice Project, a collaborative show loosely based on Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland, will be performed at St. Olaf College on Jan. 28 and 29. 

The show consists of fantastical percussive dance, musical theater and visual spectacle that surrounds the audience and moves from space to space within Dittmann Center. The performance provides multiple opportunities for the audience to join in, or if they prefer, to simply observe.

For the month of January, students from all artistic disciplines: dance, theater, studio art, music, and technical theater joined forces under the direction of the Minneapolis-based dance company, Flying Foot Forum, and St. Olaf art professor, Irve Dell.

Abby Masters, a St. Olaf dance student, told Patch that the opportunity to collaborate with Flying Foot Forum in a true interdisciplinary setting is a revolutionary experience at St. Olaf.

"I have gained quite a bit of knowledge and experience in set design and building, singing and music-making, and acting. This is an excellent creative interdisciplinary experience," Masters said. "It's an unheard of opportunity to work so closely with professionals like the Flying Foot Forum. We're a lucky group!"

As the students transform Dittmann Center, a wild version of Wonderland takes shape here in Northfield.
