St. Dominic Students Give Back

As is our mission at our school, we are teaching, encouraging and leading our students into a life of service.

As is our mission at our school, we are teaching, encouraging and leading our students into a life of service. Here are four examples of how they are living our mission!

  • Annually, we have a magazine drive to benefit our school. This year, we sold more than $12,800 worth of subscriptions and restaurant certificates. The students and their families pitch in and do their best to support St. Dominic School. Traditionally, the top selling student from each grade earned a gift card or cash. This was a great incentive for them. However, this year, each top seller was given a $25 gift card and a field trip to pick out a toy or toys which will be donated to Northfield's Christmas Sharing program. On Friday morning, they got out of school to shop for toys. Their mission was to pick out a toy or toys that a child 'just like them' might enjoy for Christmas. Our kids got a magical feeling knowing that they would be making less fortunate kids extra happy this season!
  • Seventh-graders Libby and Gabi read books at the for their service project. They helped spread the love of reading and made many children smile. Also, they received $10 in donations, which they will use to buy a new book for our school library!
  • Some of the money raised from Movie Night by seventh-graders Lauren, Emily, and BreAnna helped pay for postage to Holiday Mail for Heroes. The upper-classes made 40 plus cards for U.S. veterans. We are so thankful for our veterans' hard work and dedication to our country.
  • Robbie Kopas, Jacob Goerdt, and A.J. Thibodeau sold their old Pokemon cards and raised more than $35 for Feed my Starving Children.
