The Northfield football team opened up its 2011 season with an 11-9 victory over St. Paul Central on Thursday at Griffin Stadium in St. Paul.

The Raiders (1-0) opened up an 11-3 lead and held on despite a second half comeback by the Minutemen. 

Northfield will face its first Missota Conference foe next week when the Raiders travel to Chaska for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday. Northfield’s first home game comes in Week 3, when the Raiders will face New Prague on Sept. 16.
