Northfield Public Schools' Statement on Monday Closure

Monday's high is expected to be just -17 degrees Fahrenheit.

Northfield Public Schools will not be holding any classes or activities Monday, Jan. 6 following Gov. Mark Dayton's decision to close all public schools in Minnesota in anticipation of extremely cold weather.

The National Weather Service predicts a low of -26 degrees Fahrenheit Sunday followed by a high of -17 degrees Monday. Winds of 10 to 15 mph will further add to the bitter cold Tuesday.

The following is the district's statement on the governor's decision:

Governor Mark Dayton directed Minnesota schools to close on Monday, January 6th, 2014 because of the extremely cold weather. All classes and activities are cancelled for Monday, January 6th. Click here to review information about district cancellations.

The District is aware that forecasters are predicting continued cold weather on Tuesday, January 7th. The District will be monitoring the situation. No decision on Tuesday’s classes will be made until Monday.
