Five Candidates Running for Four School Board Seats
Northfielders will get to vote for four candidates in November's General Election.
Northfielders have three months to decide which four candidates out of five they'd like to see on the .
With the closing of the two-week filing period at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Northfield's school board candidates for November's General Election are:
- Dan Cupersmith
- Rob Hardy
- Ellen Iverson
- Anne Maple
- Noel Stratmoen
Iverson, Maple and Stratmoen currently serve on the school board. Iverson is the school board chair.

In 2008, was one of eight candidates who ran for four open seats on the Northfield School Board. Hardy received 3,806 votes, or 10.89 percent of the vote, falling short of fourth-place Maple, who received 5,257 votes, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State.
tells Patch he moved to Northfield in 2007 and has two step-children in the district, one in and one at the elementary level.

All seats up for grabs this year are four-year terms.
Jeff Quinnell, whose school board term ends this year, didn't file for re-election because he has entered the race for Rice County District 2 Commissioner incumbent Galen Malecha.
In 2010, five candidates ran for three four-year terms on the school board. Stratmoen ran unopposed that year for a two-year term on the board. In 2008, eight candidates ran for four four-year terms. In 2006, three candidates ran for three four-year terms.
