Women of Rice County

When we think about Rice County’s history we typically begin by mentioning John North, Alexander Faribault, Bishop Whipple, and of course, Jesse James.  But the fullest story of Rice County’s history must also include Anne Loomis North, Margaret Evans, Laura Baker, and more.  From the dozens of women who homestead and worked their own farms, to those running their own businesses in the 19th century, to the school teachers and settler’s wives; Susan Garwood, Executive Director of the Rice County Historical Society, will share the history of these women and more. There is no fee for this program.  Please call the Center to register.
