Also on Friday, May 4th, from 10:30-3:00 the Bridgewater Elementary
School 3rd Grade class will be holding their annual garage sale in rooms 109 and 110 at , to benefit the animals at Prairie’s Edge Humane Society.

This is an annual project for the 3rd grade students at Bridgewater school.  In previous years they have raised over $1000 for the animals and according to their teacher, Elizabeth Larson, “we are hoping to improve on even that!”.

The students use the shelter as a class project each year, checking our
website every morning to monitor the adoptable animals.  They chart the length of time the animal is at the shelter and follow their progress. The students organize the garage sale each year, even producing commercials for their sale to show to the other students in the school and designing posters of the adoptable animals which are posted around the school on the day of the sale.  The students
wait on the customers, act as cashiers and keep the items organized with the help
of their teachers.  The class even applies for a grant to pay for the bus transportation to bring them to the PEHS shelter at the end of the school year for a class trip and tour of the animal shelter.  They use a portion of the funds
to purchase items used on a daily basis at the shelter to care for the
animals.  On the day of their visit to the shelter they present the items they have purchased, are given a tour of the facility and have a Q & A session with staff and volunteers at the PEHS shelter.  This year there will be 50 students visiting the shelter from Bridgewater Elementary School.

This is a great program which teaches the students the importance of giving back to their community as well as skills they use in their regular class schedule.   The large amount of funds raised from their garage sale are used to directly help the animals at the shelter.  We appreciate the hard work done by these students and are so excited to be a part of this wonderful program once again.

Please support the 3rd Grade Class at Bridgewater Elementary School with their class project as well as the other two garage sales in Northfield which will benefit Prairie’s Edge Humane Society and the many other sales being held throughout the City on behalf of numerous non-profits.  Thank you to those hosting garage sales in the community and thank you to 5th Bridge for this great opportunity to raise funds for area charities!
