Introduction/Good Night at The Break

This is my introduction to the blogging world. It explains a few of my intentions. The focus of my blog should be the local pool scene.

Hi all, I am Sam Deel and I am brand new to the idea of blogging.  So I thought I would introduce myself and my interests and my hopes for my blog.  My wife and I moved here 4 years ago, when I retired from a career in technology, and we are enjoying Northfield very much.  We are 5 blocks fro our 2 grandkids and less than that to downtown.  I grew up in a much smaller town. The population was about 2,000 plus another 950 college students. My wife is from suburban Kansas City.  We find Northfield to be 'just right' size wise.

My interests are many. I love beer in all its many varieties, have been a beer judge, and homebrewer.  I am enjoying ping pong at the senior center.  I play pool in a couple of leagues each week.  I fish when I can and we like to camp.   Recently I have gotten into woodworking, although it has not taken on a specific flavor yet.

Most recently I have offered to help out at The Break 3 days a week.  And this is what has prompted me to take up this blogging effort.  I am not sure how many Northfielders are aware of The Break.  It is a pool room located behind McDonalds in the same strip center as the Brick Oven.  Hours are currently 3 to midnight Monday through Saturday.

So, I am hoping to come up with some tips for your pool game, announce upcoming pool events, discuss league play formats, and keep you up to date on the action in the area.  Who knows, it may turn out to be more pictures of my woodworking projects, chili recipes, or ...

I had my best night to date last night.  One party had dropped their kids at gym classes and played an hour of pool while they waited. A mom and her son came in while their laundry was going.  Plus we had 4 tables being used during the Monday Night Football game.  A couple of the tables had St. Olaf students taking a break from studies.  Like I said, a very enjoyable evening.  Lots of friendly competition with friends while enjoying the game. It was good to see everyone enjoying their time with their friends. I have had a good time working these last 2 weeks and of course, I get free table time ;)
