Home Heating Assistance Eligibility Expanded

Households earning up to 60 percent of the state median income ($43,642 for a family of four) now qualify for financial assistance through the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program (EAP).

This week, Governor Mark Dayton expanded the eligibility requirements to receive home heating assistance.

This is great news for individuals and families impacted by a troubling spike in the price of propane and other heating fuels.

There’s also a newly created toll-free hotline operating daily from 9:00am – 4:30pm available for anyone with questions about how to apply for financial assistance. You can reach the hotline by calling (800) 657-3504.

How Minnesota’s Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Works:

EAP pays utility companies directly on behalf of eligible households. Qualifying families must apply for assistance at the local service provider in their area.
