Fewer Things, Richer Experience, Deeper Understanding

I am simplifying my life.

This process involves cleaning house, finances, focusing on a few important things and throwing away the chaff.  It means cleaning the closets out, finding creative ways to save money and still have a full rich life.

Fewer things means the opportunity to grow deeper in those areas and really enjoy the richness that growth brings with it.

I am certain what I share next will appear to many as a direct contradiction to my prior statement.  Stay with me...I have signed up for 7 races.  With two planned and with some hard work and luck a few more local races to use in my training.

10/26/13 - Halloween Fearless 5K
Thanksgiving - Turkey Trot 5K - Local race put on by the Rotary

Here comes the logic...one of the few things that is going to stay is time for running.  Running makes me a better person.  It has also allowed me to work with an amazing woman, Nicole Porath.  She has, I think, taken on a not very talented but hard working athlete (four months ago I would not have used that word).  Besides helping me with being a better runner, her wild optimism has infected me and I find it hard not to smile every day.  Take a minute to read her blog about her effort to make it to the Olympic Marathon Trials for a second time.

I am so grateful for every day.  I just turned 46 and realized that even if I live to be 100 I am running out of time so I best enjoy every minute.
