Cross Country Ski Season Begins at Prairie Creek

Cross country skiing season begins at Prairie Creek!

The recent snowstorm created a winter wonderland out at Prairie Creek Community School.  Last year, there was barely enough snow to allow for winter sports to take place so the teachers and children have been eagerly taking cross-country skiing expeditions out into the surrounding fields.

Prairie Creek has a full classroom set of ski that were donated to the school a few years ago. It's great practice for the fifth grade students who have the opportunity to cross country ski at the Wolf Ridge Environmental Center.

Nancy Dennis, a 2/3 grade teacher at the school, said, "There were at least 14 children in my class who had never been cross country skiing before.   It's a great way for children to learn a new sport, be physically active and embrace the Minnesota outdoors in winter. They loved it!"
