Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for Northfield, Storm Warning for Twin Cities

The Twin Cities may see its first significant accumulation of snow this weekend, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

The snow is here. But is it here to stay?

After Friday and overnight snowfall, snow is in the forecast tonight and tomorrow.

The National Weather Service's forecasters are calling for a 60 percent chance of snow tonight. On Sunday, the weather service is also calling for a 40 percent chance of snow.

A winter storm warning is in effect for much of central Minnesota for tonight through Sunday evening. There could be strong northwest winds that could cause near-blizzard conditions, according to the NWS. Some forecasters are calling for 6 inches or more of snowfall.

High temperatures throughout the weekend are expected to be in the low- to mid-30s, according to NWS forecasters.
