Wendy Wulff Reappointed to Met Council Post

Wendy Wulff was the only previous appointee tapped by Gov. Mark Dayton to remain on the 16-member board.

Wendy Wulff is returning to her post on the Metropolitan Council.

Wulff was reappointed to the 16-member council by Gov. Mark Dayton on Wednesday. She'll be the only returning member on the council which is designated by gubernatorial appointment. Wulff was originally tapped to represent District 16, which encompasses the southern portion of Dakota County, in 2009 by Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Her district includes Northfield's Ward 3—Precinct 3.

The Met Council serves as the regional planning agency for the seven counties that make up the Twin Cities metro area and work specifically on transportation, environmental, land planning and affordable housing issues.

Prior to being appointed to the Met Council, Wulff served on the Lakeville City Council and the League of Minnesota Cities. She also has held several appointed position at the local and regional level. She most recently served on the Council’s Environment and Community Development committees.

The other 15 members on the council are all new to the posts. The appointments come almost two months after Dayton appointed Susan Haigh as the council chair.

“There were a tremendous number of high-caliber candidates who applied to serve on the Council,” Haigh said in a statement. “I think Governor Dayton made excellent choices and I look forward to working with the Governor and the new Council to move forward with our vision for the region.”
