UPDATE: Section of Division Street Reopens; Hole Filled

A hole—about 4 feet by 4 feet and several feet deep—opened up on Division Street in front of Eco Gardens on Saturday morning after National Guard vehicles drove over the section of the road, said TJ Heinricy, the city's streets and parks supervisor.

A section of the 600 block of Division Street reopened Saturday afternoon after a "deep hole" was filled.

A hole—about 4 feet by 4 feet and several feet deep—opened up on Division Street in front of on Saturday morning after National Guard vehicles drove over the section of the road, said TJ Heinricy, the city's streets and parks supervisor.

Once notified, Heinricy said he made the appropriate calls to get the hole temporarily filled to allow traffic to move through the busy downtown road. Blinking traffic markers will slow and direct drivers around the now-filled hole.

It is also believed that storm water pipe issues beneath the role could have contributed to the collapse.

A section of the 600 block of Division Street in front of is closed after a "deep hole" opened up Saturday morning.

In an email to the Northfield City Council, Administrator Tim Madigan said the hole may be caused by a storm water pipe issue.

Madigan wrote that it may be Monday or Tuesday before the problem is resolved.
